To all movie fanatics, what do the films Unbroken, Pirates of the Caribbean and Thor: Ragnarok have in common? Aside from the fact that they all star brilliant actors (just saying), do you have any realistic guess?

Yes, you guessed it right! All of the films mentioned were all shot on location at the very vibrant and alive Gold Coast! And it’s the brightest time for films on the Gold Coast. The annual Gold Coast Film Festival will take place from Wednesday 19th April – Sunday 30th April 2017.

Since the foundation of the festival in 2002, the GCFF has been celebrating and promoting all aspects of film and filmmaking from one of Australia’s well-known filmmakers’ favourite location and holiday destinations - the Gold Coast!

For its 15th year, the GCFF promises viewers a wide selection of films to choose from - from Australian indie gems to European drama and enthralling American art-house. Audiences must also expect an engaging festival as there will be Q&A’s with the filmmakers, film industry panels and school screenings and talks.

The Arts Centre Gold Coast will witness both the opening and the closing ceremonies of the festival. Some of the events for the fest like The YScreen School screening of Zach’s Ceremony + Film Critic session, YScreen School screening of My Live As A Courgette + Film Critic session and 3rd Annual Women In Film Lunch at QT Gold Coast with guest speaker Sue Maslin will happen on Friday 21st April. An Australian Premiere of The Best of the London Short Film Festival will also take place at Surfers Paradise Beach on Monday 24th April. Other information about the full 2017 Program of films and events will be announced in early March.
